Colorado Republican Chief Dick Wadhams has came out in support of a whistle blower who stepped forward this week to swear to the authenticity of documents exposing the dark underbelly of a vast liberal network credited with taking over Colorado's state House and governor's mansion. Included in the documents was a memo that outlined the Democrats' plan to target "minorities, GED's, drop-outs" or as the memo put it: "the idiots."

“The new information that is becoming available regarding the source of the ‘educate the idiots’ strategy memo leaves little doubt on the authenticity of these documents and only serves as further evidence of the liberal establishment’s culture of condescension,” Wadhams said Tuesday via press release.

Isaac Smith told The Denver Post this week that his intention in taking the documents while he was an intern at the now-defunct and purportedly bipartisan Bighorn Policy Center was “to sound the alarm on these type of practices.”

"I think transparency breeds efficiency,” Smith told the Post. “They're operating in the dark. I've never done anything like this before."

Last week, Face The State released the documents that outlined in detail the Colorado Democracy Alliance’s plan to fund a number of “progressive” groups. Many of the included groups enjoy non-profit status and are significantly limited in their legal ability to engage in political advocacy.

“Their effort to influence our electoral process through the use of non-profits and other organizations is questionable at best,” Wadhams said.

Smith decided to go public with his identity came after Mark Grueskin, CoDA’s lawyer, challenged the authenticity of the documents Monday.

Wadhams also made a plea to candidates who receive funds from the groups mentioned in the documents to return monies he labeled as “tainted.”

“I am renewing my call for those candidates who have received tainted donations from this organization and their affiliates to return that money and come clean with the public,” he added.

Reached by phone early Wednesday, Grueskin was asked for his reaction to Wadham's comments. "You act like a journalist, but you ask this very open-ended question," he said before hanging up.
